Ruksi and Eric’s Wedding atthe Mountain House on Sunday River
16 Nov 2016, Posted by Wedding Photography inLove can be hard to find when you lead a busy life – just ask Ruksi or Eric. As luck would have it, however, these two met during a chance Grouper meetup three years ago. A “Grouper” is essentially a three-on-three blind date, where three friends meet up with three strangers (who are friends themselves). Like any blind date, sometimes you hit it off, and sometimes you don’t. Well, on this particular night, the social media dating gods were smiling upon Ruksi, Eric, and their friends, and they all had a great time together. Over the next several weeks, the group hung out many times, and it didn’t take long for Ruksi and Eric to grow closer and closer. Finally, Eric worked up the courage to ask Ruksi out on a date, and, shortly thereafter, the two were inseparable!
Fast forward to this past September. That’s when Ruksi and Eric were married at The Mountain House on Sunday River, a gorgeous venue tucked away in the mountains of western Maine. Even though they live three hours away, Ruski and Eric were drawn to the Mountain House’s rustic charm. So they invited all their family and friends to make the trip up to Maine, and they even convinced one of their favorite Boston restaurants, Posto, to cater the event.
Matt and I love photographing at the Mountain House, and we were excited when Ruksi and Eric asked us to photograph their big day. We arrived just as the two of them were starting to get ready. Ruksi and her bridesmaids got ready in the farmhouse, and Eric and his groomsmen got ready in the lodge. Everyone was so excited, and people were bustling about all throughout the property. Ruksi and Eric wanted to do a first look. So, once they were all spiffed-up, we found a cute little spot amongst the apple trees where they could share a moment together. They both had the best expressions when they saw each other for the first time!
Soon it was time for the ceremony. Chairs had been set up in the field across from the main property, and that’s where everyone gathered. There was a steady breeze, which made it a little chilly for September. But the sun came out, and this helped to keep everyone warm. There, with the mountains as their backdrop, Ruksi and Eric exchanged vows and became husband and wife!
The rest of the day was a whirlwind of excitement. Posto had driven its pizza oven truck all the way from Boston, so the guests were treated to an assortment of delicious, wood-fired pizzas. And the The Winey Baker provided a lovely variety of cupcakes and other baked treats. After dinner, everyone headed to the dance floor, and that’s when the party really got started!
Ruski and Eric are such wonderful, upbeat people, and they’re perfect for one another. Matt and I had a great time photographing their wedding, and we wish them all sorts of happiness now and in the future. I hope you enjoy the below pictures, which highlight some of my favorite moments from throughout the day.
