Molly and Scot’s Wedding at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, Maine
31 Oct 2016, Posted by Wedding Photography inMolly and Scot met in college eight years ago, while doing ecology research on Merrymeeting Bay. Therefore, it was very fitting that they chose to get married just downriver from that very same spot, at the Maine Maritime Museum on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine. Rain was in the forecast, but the skies remained mostly clear. The little rain that did fall was just enough to give Molly and Scot a bit of luck on their wedding day!
So they’d have somewhere nearby to get ready, Molly and Scot rented a cozy little house and cottage just down the road from the museum. Molly got ready in the house, while Scot got ready in the cottage. Their friends and family were all there to help them get ready, and everyone was so happy and excited. Just behind the cottage was a little side yard, and that’s where Molly and Scot shared a quiet first look. They were both so cute together, and it was such a sweet moment to photograph.
Before long, everyone congregated at the edge of the river behind the Maritime Museum. Molly and Scot had planned a fun ceremony, which included singing and music lead by their friends on the fiddle and guitar. After a couple of readings and many heartfelt words, Molly and Scot sealed their wedding vows with a kiss!
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the Museum, while Matt and I took formal pictures of the happy newlyweds. There just happened to be a boat at the dock named “Merrymeeting,” which was quite the coincidence given Molly and Scot’s history! So we were sure to incorporate it into a few photos.
Scot’s mother had spent countless hours shaping and painting fish centerpieces out of clay for all of the tables, everything from bluefish to sturgeon to bass to trout. They were the perfect compliment to Molly and Scot’s fish themed wedding, which included fish neckties for the guys and fish scarves for the ladies. The reception tent was also filled with lights and all sorts of beautiful floral arrangements, which added nicely to the theme.
There were many toasts throughout the evening, and at times it felt a bit like a “Roast of Scot.” But Scot was a good sport, everyone had a good laugh. As the night went on, the dance floor was packed. This group knew how to party, and they had quite the dance moves!
Matt and I had a wonderful time photographing all of the festivities, and we had a lot of fun working with Molly and Scot. We wish them much happiness now and in the future. Below are some of my favorite pictures from throughout their wedding day. Enjoy!
