Sometimes, fate has a way of bringing two people together when they least expect it. In Lauren and Justin’s case, this happened nearly eight years ago when they were seniors in college. One afternoon, Lauren was sitting in her women’s studies class. She had reserved a seat for her friend, because the class was full and there were no other seats. However, her friend never showed up. Justin, meanwhile, arrived as the class was starting, and he had nowhere to sit. Lauren let him have the spare seat, and the rest, as they say, is history! Clearly, the universe wanted Lauren and Justin to find each other, and find each other they did.

Fast forward to just last month, and these two were married in a beautiful fall ceremony at The Mountain House on Sunday River. The Mountain House is the perfect fall venue, tucked away in the woods and hills. Matt and I have photographed many weddings at the Mountain House, but this was our first fall wedding there. It was lovely. Leaves were strewn all about, but the trees still had lots of colorful foliage. Maine can be cold in October, especially in the mountains. But the weather was unseasonably warm most of the day – which was great.

Lauren and Justin chose to have their ceremony in the field, which overlooks the mountains. It was such a pretty view, with all the greens, yellows, and reds. Lauren had chosen crimson as her main wedding color, and the wedding party’s outfits looked so nice against the foliage. At first, it looked like it might rain, and there were a few light sprinkles throughout the ceremony. But the sprinkles were there mostly for good luck, and they let up toward the end of the ceremony. Lauren and Justin both had such heartfelt vows, and, when it was time to finally say “I do,” they both looked so happy. It was great fun watching them walk out husband and wife. Their expressions were priceless!

The rest of the day was filled with all sorts of merriment. Dinner was served, and there were toasts and dances. As the night progressed, the dance floor opened up, and everyone had a great time. Before we left for the night, Matt and I borrowed the happy couple for pictures in the apple orchard. It was the perfect way to finish out a really fun day.
