Dana and Eric’s Wedding at the Causeway Club, Southwest Harbor, Maine
08 Nov 2017, Posted by Wedding Photography inJoin me in congratulating Dana and Eric, who were married this past September. You might remember this amazing couple from their engagement session in Acadia National Park earlier this spring. After nearly seven years together, these two finally tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at the Causeway Club in Southwest Harbor, Maine.
Dana and Eric have such a cute story. Eric is a few years old than Dana, which meant that in college he was an upperclassman while Dana was a freshman. Dana would occasionally attend parties at Eric’s house, but they never really met at those parties. In Dana’s words, “We actually have pictures from college, where he’s in the background of my pictures and I’m in the background of his pictures. Almost as if life had us circling one another, but it wasn’t our time to truly ‘meet’ yet.” It wasn’t until a New Year’s Even adventure in Vermont that they really had a chance to get to know each other:
“That night we all went out to dinner to a place called the Wobbly Barn. Eric and I sat down next to each other and had our first real conversation in all the years we had known of each other. I don’t remember exactly what we spoke about. I just remember it feeling easy, happy, full and fluid. I remember us both discussing how we love dipping bread in our soup, and how that somehow didn’t seem corny at all. Rather, it was completely endearing.
“After dinner, we all took our drinks and continued to celebrate. Eric and I stood on the patio along with my friend, Morgan. At that point, Morgan dared us to kiss. I don’t remember being nervous at all, just happy. We kissed, and it was the end of life as I knew it. Afterward, Eric and I fell into a deep, meaningful conversation about life, and we’ve never stopped talking to one another. It was as if life finally said, ‘Now is your time’ and took us by the hand.”
Dana and Eric refer to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park as their “happy place.” So they absolutely wanted to get married somewhere on Mount Desert Island. They chose Southwest Harbor because it’s just as beautiful as Bar Harbor, but it’s more relaxed and private.
I’m so glad they chose the Causeway Club, because it’s one of my favorite wedding venues on the island. The Causeway Club is a golf course that extends all along the water, with rolling hills and lovely views. The great thing about the Causeway Club is that it doesn’t feel like a golf course. It’s quaint and well-secluded from the hubbub of Bar Harbor. It features a cute little barn, perfect for cocktails and dancing. And down below on the lawn, there’s ample space for a tent. Best of all, it’s just a short drive (via golf cart) to a beautiful rocky beach.
All throughout the day, Matt and I had such a fun time working with Dana and Eric. It was such a blast having an opportunity to spend time with them again, and we really enjoyed photographing their wedding. As you can see from the pictures below, these two are crazy in love, and they love having fun and making each other laugh. Matt and I wish them nothing but happiness now and in the future!
