Caitlin and Jake’s Maine Wedding atAcadia National Park in Bar Harbor
26 Nov 2020, Posted by Wedding Photography inCaitlin and Jake met seven years ago through a mutual friend and were friends for a long time before they started dating. Back at the beginning, Caitlin’s friend was dating a guy who lived a couple hours away. To make the ride more pleasant for her friend, Caitlin would often tag along to keep her company. Through her friend’s boyfriend, she met Jake.
Early on, Caitlin and Jake knew they wanted to get married. In 2019, before they were even engaged, they started looking at wedding venues. They found a venue that they loved, so they reached out to see what was still open for 2020. There was one Saturday in October available, and they jumped at the chance to book it. This, of course, meant that Jake needed to get to it and actually propose. And propose he did, during a getaway to Maine in August of that year.
Then, as we all know, the pandemic happened, and Caitlin and Jake had to postpone their original wedding plans. However, these two lovebirds still wanted to get married on their original date. Therefore, they decided to have a “mini wedding.” Because they love Maine and try to visit a few times a year, Caitlin and Jake decided to have their mini wedding in the state. They immediately thought of Acadia National Park, and ultimately decided to get married on the cliffs of the Ocean Path overlooking the water.
Caitlin and Jake lucked out and had pretty warm weather for late October. We started our photography coverage with a first look on the Hemlock Trail near the Wild Gardens of Acadia. Even though the leaves were supposedly past peak, this one spot on the trail was surprisingly colorful. You’d never know the leaves were off the trees elsewhere in the park! Caitlin and Jake were so cute when they saw each other for the first time (as you can tell below).
After a little portrait session, we all headed to the Ocean Path for the ceremony. There, we were greeted by Caitlin and Jake’s family and friends, all of whom were ready to witness a beautiful ceremony right on the ocean’s edge. Caitlin and Jake said their “I do’s” and, before long, they were celebrating on the cliffside. We then spent the rest of the evening taking pictures until there was no more light left in the sky.
Caitlin and Jake’s wedding was our last wedding of the year, and we couldn’t have ended this (extremely weird) year in a better way! We had so much fun, and we wish Caitlin and Jake much happiness. Below are some of our favorite pictures from throughout their day. Take a look!
