This cute couple traveled quite a ways to get married at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor…even though they had never seen the Gardens before! That’s okay though, because the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are the perfect backdrop for a wedding. It’s impossible to go wrong. They feature acres of hiking trails and immaculate gardens of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The grounds even extend all the way to the river! The weather was perfect, and it would have been hard to ask for more.

Throughout the day, we took full advantage of all that the Gardens had to offer. We photographed the first look under the massive arbor just next to the Rose and Perennial Garden, and we photographed the wedding party and family formals in the Garden of the Five Senses. As photographers, it was such a blast! You could walk a couple hundred feet in any direction and feel like you had suddenly been whisked away to an entirely different place. L and J were a lot of fun to work with, and they were quite adventuresome. They very much wanted to experience the Gardens that they had come so far to visit.

L and J were married in front of their family and friends at the Cleaver Event Lawn and Garden. It was a beautiful ceremony, and everyone was so happy for the newlyweds! After a lot of hugging and laughing, the guests left to enjoy cocktails at the Visitor Center while the four of us toured the Gardens and took pictures. First we went to the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden, which featured all sorts of neat buildings and bridges. From there, we visited a picturesque waterfall near the Giles Rhododendron Garden. We finished up down by the river, just as the sun was starting to tuck behind the horizon.

It didn’t take long for the party to start once L and J arrived at the reception! There were toasts, lots of great food courtesy of Stone Cove Catering, and all sorts of dancing. Matt and I had a great time photographing the festivities. Below are some of my favorite pictures from throughout the day. Enjoy!
