Ally and Jeremy’s Wedding at theBar Harbor Inn in Bar Harbor, Maine
17 Nov 2021, Posted by Wedding Photography inTechnically, Ally and Jeremy met online four years ago. However, they soon realized that Ally’s best friend went to high school with Jeremy, and they all had friends in the same circles. Small world! These two enjoy hiking and spending time with their pets. Perhaps that’s why Jeremy’s proposal was so perfect. He proposed at a waterfall after they had hiked Mount Greylock with their dog, Gandalf (such an awesome name). Without hesitation, Ally said yes!
Why did Ally and Jeremy choose Bar Harbor, Maine for their wedding? Well, Acadia National Park has been a favorite location for Ally since she was a child. Her family would visit Mount Desert Island often, and she knew she wanted to get married in the area some day. Jeremy also grew up visiting Maine (Oqunquit), and so it is a special place for him as well. Of course, Bar Harbor is filled with great wedding venues. After looking at all of the options, Ally and Jeremy selected the Bar Harbor Inn because of Ally’s love of the rocky coastline and the Inn’s ability to accommodate an intimate wedding.
Ally and Jeremy had such beautiful weather for their big day. The temperature was still warm (for Maine), and the sky was perfectly overcast with some great cloud definition (great for photography). Our day began with getting ready coverage. We think getting ready pictures are some of the best pictures from a wedding day. They’re so organic, and it’s one of the few times on an otherwise busy day when our couples can relax a bit and spend some private time with family and friends.
Once Ally and Jeremy were looking all spiffy, it was time for a first look. The Inn has a nice little side garden, which made for the perfect first-look spot. I’m not sure how they do it, but the Inn manages to keep things flowering deep into the fall, which meant Ally and Jeremy had pops of color all throughout their pictures. It was great. After a few formals, Ally shared a first look with her Dad, and then it was off to the ceremony!
Ally and Jeremy were married during a sweet ceremony that overlooked Bar Island and included a Unity Tree Ceremony. It had been a while since we had photographed a tree ceremony, which made things all the more fun. Before long, Ally and Jeremy were saying their I-do’s, and, not long after that, they sealed things with a kiss.
The weather was so nice, we of course had to take Ally and Jeremy out on the rocks for ocean pictures. They happily obliged. It’s always great when the timeline allows for meaningful portrait time, as it allows us to do our best work and get some really nice shots. Ally and Jeremy were so much fun to photograph, and they were so natural and at-ease in front of the camera.
After portraits, the four of us rejoined the rest of the guests for a reception in the Porcupine Room. There, Ally and Jeremy kicked things off with a sunset dance on the balcony, just as the Margaret Todd was docking. Upon seeing Ally and Jeremy dancing up there on the balcony, the schooner’s passengers couldn’t contain their excitement and burst into applause. It was a wonderful moment.
We had a great time spending the day with Ally and Jeremy. It was so much fun photographing their wedding, and we’ve shared some of our favorite pictures below. Ally and Jeremy, we wish you many years of happiness together!
