Meet Abbie and Cody. In late June, this cute couple came all the way from Oklahoma to get married in beautiful Castine, Maine. Abbie grew up in the area, and so coming back was very special to her, even though it meant that many family members and friends wouldn’t be able to make the long trip. As a result, Abbie and Cody decided to have a small, intimate wedding followed by a dinner reception, cake, and toasts.

They chose the Manor Inn, a charming bed and breakfast, for all of their festivities. Originally built as a single-family home, the Inn is uniquely and thoughtfully decorated, with antique furnishings and maritime collectibles throughout. Between its common room, dining room, pub, and nicely-manicured grounds, the Inn was the perfect size and a wonderful location for Abby and Cody’s special day.

Abbie and Cody each got ready in separate rooms closely attended by a few of their best friends. Because it was to be a small wedding ceremony, Abbie and Cody elected not to have a wedding party. Nonetheless, their friends were there each step of the way, helping out as though they were bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was so nice to see!

Shortly after they were done getting ready, Abbie and Cody met outside for a first look. Matt and I always love photographing first looks, because it’s a great way to get a variety of candid, heartfelt pictures. Abbie and Cody were so sweet! She came up behind him and tapped him on his shoulder, at which point he turned around with the biggest smile on his face. These two were definitely meant to be together!

The ceremony was cozy and took place in the Inn’s common room. The guests, about 40 or so in total, sat in a variety of chairs while Abbie and Cody recited their vows to one another. The closeness of the room added to the love and warmth of the ceremony, and it really felt like everyone was a part of the moment.

Later in the afternoon, before dinner was to be served, Abbie and Cody (but mostly Abbie) got a bit of a surprise in the form of a toast. One of Abbie’s childhood friends had brought her diary, and she read a few excerpts from fourteen years earlier. On one page was an entry written by Abbie that read, “I will never get married.” This, of course, was quite funny under the circumstances. On the accompanying page, there was a recipe and spell for creating the “perfect guy” which the girls evidently had, unsuccessfully, attempted back in the day. Needless to say, everyone got a good laugh, especially Cody.

As the afternoon and evening wore on, everyone had a chance to socialize and enjoy one another’s company. Even though Abbie had specifically requested no first dance, Cody managed to get her up in front of everyone when their song played over the speakers. From the look on her face, she didn’t seem to mind it too much!

Matt and I had a lot of fun photographing this super sweet couple, and we wish them much happiness! Below are several of my favorite pictures from their beautiful Maine wedding. Enjoy!
