I first met Mahala many years ago when I did her senior portraits in Acadia National Park. I enjoyed a wonderful evening with Mahala and her mom as we explored several different locations. That’s why I was so excited when I got an email that Mahala was getting married and they wanted to hire us as their photographers.

Like many of our couples (including us!), Mahala and Michael met online. On a beautiful summer evening Michael proposed to Mahala while they were boating with her parents. Mahala said, “just as the sunset was at its peak he stood up and got on one knee and told me all the wonderful things everyone dreams about hearing when they get proposed to, and he asked if I would marry him. Obviously I said yes, and we spent the rest of the evening celebrating with my parents (as my mom cried more happy tears than I’ve ever seen in my entire life).”

Since we had visited several of the more popular locations in Acadia National Park when I did Mahala’s senior portrait session, the couple decided to do something different for their engagement photos. They choose Little Long Pond and Seal Cove Beach for their session. We love both of these locations because they are two completely different backdrops, but they’re so close together that it’s easy to do both locations in an evening.

We started Mahala and Michael’s engagement session at Little Long Pond. It was wonderful to see Mahala again and meet Michael. We had a great time working with them and exploring this beautiful location. To top off their session we headed to Seal Cove beach to finish up as the sun was setting. It was a lovely evening from beginning to end!

Mahala and Michael are getting married in October at the Bar Harbor Inn, and we’re looking forward to working with them again. Check out some of our favorite photos from their engagement session below.
