Finnlay’s Pet Portrait Session in Bangor, Maine
15 Mar 2018, Posted by Family Photography, Personal, Portraits inLast December I was trying to decide what to get Matt for Christmas. This is a yearly struggle for me because everyone who knows Matt knows he is incredibly hard to buy for. When asked what he wanted, his reply was “nothing” or “I don’t know.” It was super helpful. I spent weeks researching different ideas. Finally it hit me. The perfect gift: a year of Finnlay, aka a calendar of our baby. Matt and Finnlay have such a special bond that I knew he would love it.
After deciding on the calendar I excitedly started going through our pictures to see which photos would make it. I wanted January to start with puppy pictures and the year to end with current pictures. I soon realized that we didn’t have a lot of current pictures, which made my gift a bit hard to finish up. I decided that needed to be fixed!
On a lovely warm December day, Finnlay and I went into the backyard for a little photo shoot. Finnlay had just come back from the doggy spa and had a lovely new do, so it was the perfect opportunity. I didn’t want Matt asking questions, so I made sure he was out before we did anything. Matt had no idea that this portrait session ever happened until Christmas (though I might have almost slipped up a couple times!).
Finnlay was the perfect little model. As long as I had a treat and his Frisbee he was ready to go. Just like a child we had to take lots of breaks to play in between taking pictures. That kept him happy and his focus on me. These pictures helped me finish Matt’s gift. Come Christmas day Matt loved his calendar.
Below are a few of my favorites from my mini portrait session with Finnlay. I hope they bring you as much joy as they bring me. Enjoy!
