The S. Family’s Portrait Session at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park
05 Feb 2018, Posted by Family Photography inLast summer we were contacted by Roy. He reached out because his family was coming to Maine to celebrate his parent’s 60th birthdays. They had never been to Maine, but they loved the picturesque views of the water and coast lines that Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are known for. Since this was such a special occasion, they wanted to schedule a family portrait session so they could celebrate his parent’s birthdays and remember this wonderful vacation.
Since they were not familiar with the area they asked for our suggestions on some options for their family session. Given that were traveling with two children under the age of 5 years old, Roy told us that his kids don’t always do well in all locations. I guess they’ve been known to lose a few in and around the water. I can’t say I was surprised to hear this – I’m not sure I’ve ever met a young child who doesn’t head straight for any water in sight!
In the end they decided on Jordan Pond for their family portrait session. This was a great location because we could keep the kids away from the water for most of the session and keep everyone dry until the very end.
The day of their session was extremely foggy. In fact it was so foggy that you couldn’t see most of the coast line. This can happen sometimes in Acadia, and oftentimes you don’t even know it’s that bad until you get to the water. Luckily Jordan Pond has some beautiful walking trails so we spent most of our time taking advantage of them.
We had a lot of fun working with the S. Family. Even though the weather wasn’t ideal this family didn’t let it faze them. We laughed and joked all through their session. I’m so glad they contacted us to help document their special vacation!
Below are some of our favorite pictures from our time together. Enjoy!
