It’s not every day you get to photograph a wedding that was twenty-five years in the making! But this past June, Matt and I had the privilege of photographing Julie and Frank’s wedding at The Mountain House on Sunday River. Julie and Frank have known each other since the 70’s, when Julie worked as a papergirl for Frank’s family. But it wasn’t until 1991 that these two reconnected. Julie was out celebrating a friend’s birthday at Gritty’s Brew Pub in Portland when she spotted Frank across the room. They hit it off, and they’ve been together ever since! Their wedding day, June 25th, was their twenty-five year anniversary – how cool is that?

Julie and Frank are the owners of the Mountain House, one of our favorite wedding venues. To help pull of their special day, they brought together several amazing vendors from all over Maine (check out the links below). The result was a rustic, yet elegant, theme that truly captured the look, feel, and experience of the Mountain House. For Julie and Frank, it was an amazing opportunity to see their venue through their clients’ eyes. After years of helping other couples plan their Mountain House weddings, Julie and Frank were finally able to enjoy the venue for themselves!

One of the great things about the Mountain House, especially for photographers, is that it offers a wide variety of scenic backdrops. From the mountain views to the apple orchard to the nearby covered bridge, there are all sorts of photo opportunities. We had a great time exploring each of these spots. Julie and Frank were both so quick to laugh, and they were both so incredibly happy to be getting married. They made our job easy!

The rest of the day was filled with all sorts of merriment, from the ceremony, to the cake cutting, to the dancing. Matt and I had a lot of fun capturing the festivities, and we can’t wait until our next trip to the Mountain House in September. Julie and Frank were awesome to work with, and we’re so happy that they finally tied the knot after all these years! We wish them many more years of happiness together.
